Good.

I like the way you grapple with the apparent poverty of language. In which "conscious" could mean "not comastose," "explicit" (in a cognitive sense) or the opposite of subconscious (in a psychoanalytic sense).

To the extent we feel something else is going on, the challenge is to operationally define it. And while I have some nits to pick, you've taken a good swipe at it. Beats the snot out of anything I've seen in the neurological literature, I'll say that.

Are you familiar with quasicrystals?

Love this! “nits to pick” and “beats the snot”… made me chuckle! Thank you for saying so! I’m familiar with the term, so must’ve encountered…. Should I research more? Worth looking into?

We live in a world that has three dimensions of space and one of time. Current theory is, quasicrystals are higher dimensional objects. Only part of those objects "fit" into three dimensions.

There's a whole branch of mathematics that deals with mapping, or projection of higher dimensional objects into lower dimensional space. It's been a problem ever since we figured out the world is round, which makes it challenging to project that onto a two dimensional surface, such as a map.

A single projection, such as Mercator, doesn't give ya the whole picture. It results in distortions and false singularities. But if you were to look at all possible projections, you could "stitch" them together into some semblance of reality. Even if you were an ant and never imagined the world could have a third spatial dimension.

You'd have to be a pretty smart ant. I know I'm not that smart. For example I'm told, on a large enough scale, the universe has four spatial dimensions. That kinda kicks my butt intellectually, but I'll give myself credit to at least know my butt got kicked

At any rate. Another word for "dimensions" is "degrees of freedom." We assume humans only have four degrees of freedom, like a billiard ball. What if we have more? What would that feel like, right here, right now?

Sounds like it could tie into my "Stitch in Time" theory - so I'll definitely be diving into the quasicrystal rabbit hole today! Appreciate it, thank you! Sounds fascinating.
